  • 2014 Partnered Project of the Year, Diamond Level

    Ames Construction, as part of a joint venture, received 2014 Partnered Project of the Year, Diamond Level, from the International Partnering Institute (IPI) for work on the SR-193 Extension; 2000 West to I-15.

    2014 Gold Award  Success in Motion

    Ames Construction received Gold Award, Success in Motion, from the California District 8 Division of Construction for work on the Caltrans I-215 HOV Gap Closure Project.

    Ames Construction received Project of the Year, from the Island Empire Chapter of the WTS for work on the Caltrans I-215 HOV Gap Closure Project.

  • 2013 Occupant Protection Award

    Ames Construction has received the 2013 Occupant Protection award from the Utah Safety Council and the Department of Public Safety, Highway Safety Office. The award was in recognition of State Wide, 100% seat belt usage by Ames Construction.

    2013 Award of Merit

    Ames Construction has received the 2013 Award of Merit from the Utah Safety Council in recognition of outstanding safety performance in the field.

    2013 Outreach Campaign / Local Level - First place

    Ames Construction, as part of the Provo River Constructors and the I-15 CORE project has received first place in the 2013 Outreach Campaign / Local Level Awards. UDOT awarded the project for the "I-15 CORE Lane Split Education Campaign" carried out by the project team. An effort that increased traffic safety and reduced congestion during construction.

    2013 Training Programs / Local Level - Second Place

    Ames Construction, as part of the Provo River Constructors and the I-15 CORE project has received second place in the 2013 Training Programs / Local Level Awards. UDOT awarded the "Provo River Constructors Joint Venture Company:I-15 Corridor Expansion Project" for superior project safety. As a result 7.3 Million man-hours were performed with zero fatalities and One million man-hours were achieved with zero lost-time incidents.

    2013 Special Recognition Award - Zero Recordable Incidents

    Ames Construction has received the 2013 Special Recognition Award - Zero Recordable Incidients, from Barrick Goldstrike mine, for work done on the TCM Leach Pad Project. For the project, Ames poured over 15,200 cubic yards of concrete and handled over 5 Million pounds of rebar.

    2013 Grand Award

    Ames Construction received the 2013 Grand Award from the ACEC of Minnesota for work performed on the Washington Avenue Bridge Retrofit and Rehabilitation project in St. Paul MN.

    2013 Roadway Work Zone Safety Awareness Award, Training: Local/Municipal Category

    Ames Construction, as part of the Provo River Constructors Joint Venture, received the 2013 Roadway Work Zone Safety Awareness Award, Training: Local/Municipal Category from the American Road & Transportation Builders Association for work done on the I-15 Corridor Expansion Project.

    2013 ENR Mountain States Best Projects, Highways/Bridges

    Ames Construction, as part of the Provo River Constructors Joint Venture, was a winner of the 2013 ENR Mountain States Best Projects Award, Highways/Bridges Category for work done on the I-15 Corridor Expansion Project.

    2013 America's Transportation Awards, Grand Prize

    Ames Construction, as part of the Provo River Constructors Joint Venture, received the America's Transportation Awards Grand Prize for work done on the I-15 Corridor Expansion Project. This award recognizes outstanding transportation projects in three categories: Ahead of Schedule, Under Budget, and Best Use of Innovation.

    Ames Construction, as part of the Provo River Constructors Joint Venture, received the 2013 National Design-Build Project Award, Transportation Category from the Design Build Institute of America, for work done on the I-15 Corridor Expansion Project.

    Ames Construction, as part of the Provo River Constructors Joint Venture, received the 2013 ACEC Utah Chapter Honor Award, Transportation Category-Roadway and Structures Design, for work done on the I-15 Corridor Expansion Project.

    2013 Project of the Year, Roadway and Structures Design

    Ames Construction, as part of the Provo River Constructors Joint Venture, received the 2013 Project of the Year Award, Roadway and Structures Design Category from the Institute of Transportation Engineers Utah Chapter for work done on the I-15 Corridor Expansion Project.

    2013 AGC of Utah Project Manager of the Year

    Steve McPherson, of Ames Construction, was named 2013 AGC of Utah Project Manager of the Year for his work on the I-15 Corridor Expansion Project.

    2013 AGC of Utah Superintendent of the Year

    Wes Young, of Ames Construction, was named 2013 AGC of Utah Superintendent of the Year for his work on the I-15 Corridor Expansion Project.

    2013 Portland Cement Concrete Pavement Urban Divided Highway Project of the Year

    Ames Construction, as part of the Provo River Constructors Joint Venture, received the 2013 Portland Cement Concrete Pavement Urban Divided Highway Project of the Year from the American Concrete Paving Association, Utah Chapter, for work done on the I-15 Corridor Expansion Project.

    2013 American Concrete Pipe Association Project Achievement Award

    IRWA's Top 10 Projects of the 2013

    The I-15 Corridor Expansion Project was named #2 on IRWA's Top 10 Projects of 2013.

    2013 Award of Excellence, Municipal Utilities Division  Project of the Year

    Ames Construction, as part of a joint venture, received the 2013 Award of Excellence, Municipal Utilities Division  Project of the Year from the AGC of Utah for work on the SR-193 Extension; 2000 West to I-15.

    2013 Contractor Safety Award, Category 4, Gold Level

    Ames Construction was awarded the 2013 Contractor Safety Ward, Category 4, Gold Level based on criteria established by the NRC (National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association.) Safety Committee for distinguished safety performance.

    2013 Excellence In Concrete Award

    The Ames Joint Venture, Provo River Constructors, received the 2013 Excellence in Concrete award in the category of Public Works for work performed on the I-15 Corridor in Utah.

    The Ames Joint Venture, Provo River Constructors, received the 2013 Excellence in Concrete award in the category of Highways for work performed on the I-15 Corridor in Utah.

    2013 National Design-Build Award

    The I-15 Corridor expansion has received the 2013 National Design-build Award as the fastest one-billion dollar public highway project in US history. The Provo River Constructors joint venture team was sited for keeping existing lanes open and maintaining high levels of public support throughout the project. Ames Construction is listed as the second partner in the Provo River Constructors joint venture.

    2013 John L. Martin Partnered Project of the Year

    The Ames Joint Venture, Provo River has received the 2013 John L. Martin Partnered Project of the Year, Diamond Award, from the International Partnering Institute for work done on the I-15 Corridor Expansion Project (I-15 CORE).

    2013 WASHTO - Best Use of Innovation, Large Project

    WASHTO has awarded the I-15 Corridor Expansion project 2013 Best Use of Innovation Award, Large Project.

  • 2012 Achievement of Safety Excellence

    Ames Construction was awarded the 2012 Achievement of Safety Excellence, Platinum Award, by the AGC Utah Chapter for a safety record with an incident rate 25% below the national average.

    2012 Safety Award of Merit

    Ames Construction received the 2012 Award of Merit from the Utah Safety Council for outstanding safety performance.

    2012 Prize Bridge Award, Movable Span Category

    Ames Construction received the 2012 Prize Bridge Award, Movable Span Category from the National Steel Bridge Alliance for work performed on the BNSF Burlington Bridge project.

    2012 Concrete Excellence Award

    The Montana Contractors' Association recognized Ames Construction with the "2012 Concrete Excellence Award" for work on the Lower Yellowstone Fish Diversion Dam. The project has won first prize in the "Bridges and Agricultural Concrete" category.

    2012 "Project of the Year"

    Ames Construction won the 2012 " Project of the Year" from the APWA for work on the Milton E. Proby Parkway, Phase 1.

    2012 Arizona Transportation Partnering Excellence Award

    Ames Construction was awarded the 2012 Arizona Transportation Partnering Excellence Award for Partnering with ADOT State Engineer, Jennifer Toth, on work performed at SR260 Little Greeen Valley

    2012 Project of the Year

    Ames Construction was awarded Project of the Year by the City Engineers Association of Minnesota for work on the Bass Lake Road (CSAH 101 to Vicksburg Lance) reconstruction project in Maple Grove, Minnesota.

    2012 Plant Safety Award - Tailings

    Ames Construction was awarded the 2012 Plant Safety Award, Tailings by Kennecott Utah Copper for a superior safety record.

    Ames joint venture, A & W Highway Contractors, received the 2012 National Award of Merit from the DBIA for work done on 11400 South in Utah

    2012 Build Arizona Award

    Ames Construction has won the 2012 Build Arizona Award, in the category of Public Renovation  Highway Construction projects Over $10 million. This award, given by the AGC of Arizona was for work done on the Hohokam Expressway project.

    2012 Minnesota Occupational Safety Award

    Ames Construction received the 2012 Meritorious Achievement Award in Occupational Safety from the Minnesota Safety Council.

    2012 Contractor Mining Mine Safety Award, 1st Place, Nevada Mining Operations

    The Nevada Mining Association has awarded Ames Construction, the "2012 Contractor Mining Mine Safety Award, 1st Place, Nevada Mining Operations" for achieving the a best total safety rating during the Calendar Year of 2012.

    Ames Construction and the PPRTA received the 2011 "Best in Colorado" Asphalt Pavement Quality from the Colorado Asphalt Pavement Association for work done on the Milton E. Proby Parkway project.

    Ames Construction and Teller County received the 2011 "Best in Colorado" Asphalt Pavement Quality from the Colorado Asphalt Pavement Association for work done on the Highway 82 Improvements project project.

    2011 Excellence in Concrete

    Ames Construction was awarded the 2011 Excellence in Concrete by the New Mexico Chapter of the American Concrete Institute for double tracking work done on Abo Canyon.

    2011 Top 30 Supplier Award

    Ames Construction was awarded the Top 30 Supplier Award, by RioTinto for work done at Rio Tinto's Kennecott Utah Copper Mine.

    2011 Best Safety Performance - Tailings

    Ames Construction was awarded the 2011 Best Safety Performance by the RioTinto for work at the Kennecott Copper Tailings Dam in Utah.

    2011 DBIA RMR Design-Build Transportation Award

    Ames Construction was awarded the 2011 DBIA Transportation Award for work on 11400 South, State Street to Bangerter on the New I-15 Interchange in Utah.

    2011 Award of Excellence for Water Resources and Outstanding Project of the Year

    The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Concrete Institute has awarded Ames Construction with the 2011 Award of Excellence for Water Resources and Outstanding Project of the Year for work done on the Reuter Hess Dam and Reservoir enlargement project.

    2011 Award of Merit Utah Safety Council

    Ames Construction has been honored with the 2011 Award of Merit from the Utah Safety Council for outstanding safety performance.

    The 2011 Occupant Protection Award

    Ames earned this award for 100% seat belt usage rate. To attain this award, over 100 vehicles, commercial and light duty, maintained 100% compliance.

    2011 "Best Overall Safety Rating".

    The Nevada Mining Association awarded Ames Construction with a, second place, best overall safety rating in the Contractors division.

    Ames Construction has received the 2010 Contractor Mining Mine Safety Award, First Place Nevada Mining Operations from the Nevada Mining Association. It is in recognition for having achieved the lowest total safety rate during the calendar year of 2010.

    2010 Annual Mine Safety Award

    Ames Construction has received the 2010 Annual Mine Safety Award from the Utah Mining Association for outstanding safety performance in the year of 2010.

    2010 Zero Incident Rate Safety Award, Heavy Highway.

    Ames Construction has received the 2010 Zero Incident Rate, Heavy Highway Safety Award from the Wyoming Contractors Association. The award is in recognition of 100,001-200,000 man-hours worked with a zero incident rate.

    2010 Construction Safety Excellence Award

    Ames Construction received the 2010 Construction Safety Excellence Award from the Minnesota AGC and the Duluth Builders Exchange.

    2010 Achievement of Safety Excellence, Platinum

    Ames Construction received the 2010 Achievement of Safety Excellence Award, Platinum from the AGC of Utah for a record of recordable incidents that was 25% below the national average.

    2010 Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers Merit Award for Distinguished Engineering Achievement - Seven Wonders of Engineering Awards Competition

    Awarded to Ames Construction for the Inver Grove Heights Northwest Area Trunk Utility Improvements. Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota.

    2010 American Public Works Association (APWA) - Arizona Chapter Project of the Year in the Transportation ($25 million - $75 million) award catagory

    Awarded to Ames Construction for the Happy Valley Road: 67th Avenue to Lake Pleasant Parkway project.

    2010 ARTBA-TBF Annual Globe Award Winner

    Ames Construction was awarded a 2009 Globe Award, Highway Category, for the Happy Valley Road project. The Southwest Region office accepted the award.

    2010 APWA Project of the Year Award

    Ames Construction was awarded the 2010 APWA Project of the Year Award (environmental projects over $75 million) for the All American Canal project. The Southwest Region office accepted the award.

    2010 Arizona Transportation Award for Partnering Excellence

    Ames Construction was awarded the 2010 Arizona Transportation Award for Partnering Excellence for the Happy Valley Road - 67th Avenue to Lake Pleasant Parkway construction project. The Ames Southwest Region office accepted the award.

    2010 Employer of the Year

    Ames Construction was presented Employer of the Year by the Operating Engineers Joint Apprenticeship for Utah.

    2010 TOP CLOD Award for Partnering Excellence

    Ames Construction was awarded the 2010 TOP CLOD award for grading work done on the 106 Thedford Viaduct by the Nebraska Department of Roads.

    Awarded to the Zumbro River Constructors (Ames Construction) team for the TH212/CR110 Design-Build Project - Bridge Foundation Study and Monitoring.

    The Olathe, KS Grade Separation Project was selected as the APWA - Kansas City Metro Chapter - 2009 Public Works Project of the Year.

    2009 Industry Achievement Award: The Harry H. Edwards Award for Best Sustainable Design and Best Design Using a Total-Precast System

    The Harry H. Edwards Award for Best Sustainable Design and Best Design Using a Total-Precast System: The State Highway 58 Ramp A Flyover Bridge in Golden, CO. The component was designed by Summit Engineering in Littleton, CO. and CH2M Hill in Englewood, CO. Ames Construction was the general contractor with precast concrete components supplied by Encon Bridge Co. LLC in Denver, CO.

    2009 Federal Highway Administration Environmental Excellence Award

    FHWA environmental excellence awards honor partners, projects and processes that excel in meeting growing transportation needs while protecting and enhancing the environment. The award honors the Ames Construction built Martin Olav Sabo Bridge, a Midtown Greenway cable-stayed bridge in Minneapolis.

    2009 Best Transportation Project Award

    The US-6 Milepost 200 Bridge Replacement project in Utah County, Utah was awarded Best Transportation Project of 2009 by Intermountain Contractor Magazine (a McGraw-Hill publication)

    2009 Best Partnered Project Award - UDOT

    Awarded to Ames Construction for the US-6, Milepost 218.7 to Emma Park Road project.

    2009 Award of Merit - Utah Safety Council

    Awarded to Ames Construction, Western Region, in recognition and appreciation in Safety as measured by outstanding safety performance.

    2009 First Place Safety Award - Wyoming Contractors Association

    Ames Construction was awarded First Place in the Heavy Highway Category - Over 200,000 man-hours worked with no recorded injury.

    2009 Mn/DOT - AGC Bridge Construction Award

    Awarded to Ames Construction for exceptional bridge construction work on the TH 60 bridge reconstruction project spanning the Straight River in Faribault, MN

    2009 AGC of Utah Achievement of Safety Excellence

    Platinum Award presented to Ames Construction on achieving 25% below the National Average for our Experience Modification Rate (EMR).

    2009 Arizona Chapter Associated General Contractors (AZAGC) Safety Award Winner

    Ames Construction was chosen the winner of the AZAGC 2009 Safety Award for Over 1 Million man hours worked.

    The award was presented to Ames Construction, Inc. for the Midtown Greenway Bridge in Hennepin County

    2008 Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers Seven Wonders of Engineering Award (#2)

    The Sauk Rapids Regional Bridge construction was voted as one of the 7 best projects in the advancement of engineering. This award was open to any type of facility (much broader than just transportation projects).

    The Martin Olav Sabo cable-stayed bridge project was named one of the seven wonders awards. In addition, it was voted as the Grand Champion project of the 7 wonders. Ames Construction was the only company to have 2 projects in the top 7 field.

    Prestigous award for safety excellence and outstanding safety performance in 2007.

    2008 Governor's Meritorious Safety Award Minnesota Safety Council

    Award for safety excellence and outstanding safety performance.

    2008 Platinum Award Winner - Achievement of Safety Excellence - AGC Utah

    Ames Construction was presented the Platinum Award for being 25% below the national average for the company's "Total Recordable Incident Rate" in the State of Utah for 2008.

    2008 UDOT Transportation Project of the Year - Legacy Highway Segment 1

    Awarded by UDOT to A&W Highway Contractor (JV of Ames Construction and Wadsworth Brothers.) This was the southern 5.2 miles of the Green field new parkway project tying into I-215.

    2008 Best Transportation Project of the Year

    Awarded to A&W Highway Contractor (JV of Ames and Wadsworth Brothers) by McGraw-Hill's Intermountain Contractor magazine for the Legacy Highway Segment 1.

    2008 UDOT Transportation Project of the Year - Legacy Highway Segment 2

    Awarded by UDOT to Ames Construction. This was the middle 5.2 miles of the Green field new parkway with trail system.

    Awarded to Ames Construction Western Region for the Small Bank or Pit Group Sentinels of Safety Program for its outstanding safety record in 2008 - 8,374 employee-hours worked without a lost workday injury.
