Synopsis of Work:

Ames Construction was the prime contractor on this five-year contract mining and reclamation project. The mine is located on an environmentally sensitive site immediately adjacent to the Chippewa River in Wisconsin. Ames crews performed all of the work under the continuous scrutiny of the State environmental agencies and other stakeholder groups. The project included pre-production stripping, drilling, blasting, and mining of 17,000,000 tons of ore and waste. Crews crushed and loaded the ore into rail cars for transport to the processing facility. Upon completion of the mining work, the waste materials were hauled back into the mine to reclaim the pit areas. (also see Mine Remediation for follow-up of project.)
