Ames work included six prime contracts and over 40 subcontracts during the initial construction of the new Denver airport. During the roughly five years that Ames crews worked at the site, they moved 125,000,000 cubic yards of earth and rock, installed almost 90 miles of underground pipe, and cast 80,000 cubic yards of concrete in box culverts and other drainage structures. The initial 30 million cubic yards of grading was completed several months ahead of schedule, allowing the owner to turn over critical areas of the site to follow-on building contractors.
