Synopsis of Work:

This project consisted of the total reconstruction of Piedmont Avenue (TH-52) in Duluth, MN. A very tight curvy road, it was widened to four lanes. The project required cast-in-place concrete retaining walls nearly the entire length of both sides. Project length reached 6,000 feet. The project included three bridges, one cut and cover pedestrian tunnel and fancy form liner walls. The project also included improving the underground utilities system. Scope of work included 400,000 cubic yards of earthwork, 35,000 cubic yards of rock excavation, 20,000 linear feet of RC pipe, 5,000 linear feet of DI pipe, 3,000 linear feet of PVC pipe, 130,000 square feet of retaining wall, and 22,000 cubic yards of structural concrete. This project was completed 10 months ahead of schedule.
