Perspectives

Ames Construction // Infrastructure // Climax Mine Project

Project Location: Leadville, Colorado

Client: Freeport McMoran

Synopsis of work:

Ames Construction performed sitework, grading and foundations work for a new mill building, along with expansion of tailings dams for the Climax Mine in Colorado. Constructed at an elevation exceeding 11,000 feet, the infrastructure project had an accelerated schedule due to the short construction season in which to complete the work.

Project completion included 1.45-million cubic yards of earthwork, aggregate processing, Hilfiker retaining walls, welded CS and HDPE piping and structural concrete.

Ames assumed a significant construction management role on behalf of the owner, providing site safety, MSHA training for all contractors working on the site, and overall project scheduling services.
