Estimating Technical Assistant

ESTIMATING TECHNICAL ASSISTANT is available immediately at our Rocky Mountain Regional office, located in Aurora, CO. We are seeking a full-time individual to perform technical duties and provide assistance to our estimating department. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, assist estimating staff with plan quantity takeoff and earthwork quantity calculations utilizing multiple programs (AutoCAD, Carlson, AGTEK, Bluebeam, Adobe), organize, interpret, compare, analyze and present data, prepare graphics for presentation, provide assistance to active projects, and drafting in support of estimating and active projects as needed. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, possess a strong desire to learn a trade, be a team player who gets along well with others, is capable of handling and prioritizing multiple assignments, and takes pride in accurate and timely completion of tasks. An Associates degree in computer drafting or construction management, completion of a technical program in drafting, or 1 – 3 years of experience using Civil 3D, Carlson, LDD CADD or similar programs is desired. Other necessary skills include, basic plan reading, experience utilizing Microsoft Office, organizational skills, ability to communicate with co-workers and clients, and familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and Bluebeam. On the job training provided. Position hours are Monday through Friday 7:00am - 5:00pm. Candidate must have a valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation and successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Project Safety Manager

Ames Construction, a national heavy civil and design build contractor, is accepting applications for a Project Safety Manager at our Midwest region. This position is geographically located in Iowa, and will cover project in the surrounding state or nation-wide. This is a field position and reports directly to the Regional Safety Manager. The Project Safety Manager will manage the project safety disciplines and monitor day-to-day construction operations for potential safety hazards. Conduct new hire orientations and drug screens, job-site training, safety audits and daily briefings, assess risk management and investigate worker’s comp injuries. Provide project safety statistics, assist Project Manager with environmental setups and collaborate with project management and regional safety team. Carpenter Foreman

CARPENTER FOREMAN positions are available out of the Midwest Region. This position may include short/long term travel. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and assigning work to crew members including but not limited to: footing, wall and column forming, structural deck forms, layout and anchorage systems. Foreman must have the ability to exert heavy physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 80 pounds, maintain high levels of efficiency without sacrificing safety and quality, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists, and be physically able to kneel, stoop, crouch, balance, climb or crawl. Candidates must have minimum of 5 years experience in a Carpenter Foreman role with Heavy/Highway Civil Construction Projects. Experience working on bridges, dams, and utility structures required.

Grade Foreman

This position will join the Midwest estimating team located in Burnsville, MN and provide cost estimation on projects throughout the Midwest region. EARTHWORKS SUPERINTENDENT position is available in Glendive, Montana based out of our Colorado regional office. The project is geographically located along the Yellowstone River. Responsibilities include field coordination, production and cost performance, GPS, work scheduling, jobsite safety activity, managing mass excavation with scrapper and truck spreads, dewatering, material screening, rip-rap placement, procurement of supplies and materials, and oversight/coordination of assigned subcontractors. Qualified candidate must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience as a superintendent in heavy highway, channelization or other related heavy civil construction projects, specializing in mass earthwork operations. PROJECT SAFETY MANAGER position is available out of our California office. This position is geographically located out of Corona, CA, but may manage projects throughout the surrounding states. This position reports directly to the Southwest Regional Safety Manager, and will work along with the Construction Managers and Site Supervisors. The Project Safety Manager is responsible for construction safety activities throughout the project: to include: prepare project safety plans, conduct on-site safety orientations, maintain safety data sheet catalog, and maintain daily subcontractor man power. Provide resources for conducting weekly construction safety meetings, maintain and catalog safety reports and statistics, conduct on-site visits/inspections and perform site safety reviews, conduct on-site accident and incident investigations. Participate in implementation of quality control program activities, obtain and track closeout documents and other assigned safety responsibilities. This position requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience in safety management, highway heavy and civil construction or related role, 30-hour OSHA certification within the past 5 years and take the initiative to continued safety training. The Alternative Delivery Manager is a leadership position representing the company in integrating construction designs with a third-party design firms. This position will support multi-million dollar heavy civil projects through the pursuit, execution, and post design phases. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, manage pursuit team that consist of consulting engineers, contractors and consultants. Analyzing RFP’s & RFQ’s, compiling proposal outlines, compliance matrices and schedules. Selection of design consultants, lead the proposal process to ensure all team members complete required assignments that reflect the strategic objectives of the proposal and negotiation of teaming agreements and subcontracts. Selection of specific design professionals, design approach and concept reviews, review proposed design schedule, design estimate and monitor design progress. CHIEF ESTIMATOR position is available in our Western regional office. This position is geographically located in Salt Lake City, Utah, and will also cover projects in the surrounding states. The Chief Estimator organizes a strategic plan for pursuit of identified projects, prepares and supervises the preparation of bids and preliminary schedules to assist in the estimating process. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to Work closely with management to review local and federal regulations. Builds and maintains strong relationships in the industry to enable effective ties to local and national markets review and understand all bid documents and asses project risks and understand project logistics and project schedule. Compare and analyze competitive subcontractor and supplier quotations, review quotes and estimates with project management, and prepare estimates at different levels of completion. Desired candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management from a recognized accredited program. Minimum 15 years of estimating and project management experience, and 5 years of experience managing multiple estimators. Extensive knowledge in the area of costs for labor, materials, subcontractors, etc. to accurately prepare and supervise the preparation of bids. Responsibilities include: detailed scheduling, activity ties, critical paths, resource loaded and progress updates based on construction progress. Ideal candidate will have two years of scheduling experience using Primavera software and proficiency in Microsoft applications. PROPOSAL TECHNICAL ASSISTANT position is available at our Salt Lake City, Utah office. We are seeking a highly motivated individual. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, preparing written proposal and letters, prequalification documents, proposal forms, sending RFQ’s to vendors and subcontractors, administering bid document sharing software and other general departmental support. Position requires a minimum of five years’ experience in technical or writing proposal content or other business related activities, and has ability to multi-task. Proficient in mathematics, English and Microsoft Word applications; specifically, Word, Excel and Publisher. Experience with contracts and proposals in construction desired. Possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, proofreading and exceptional organizational and interpersonal skillfulness to interact with all levels of staff and clients.
