Riverstart Solar Park

Ames Construction built the 1,700-acre Riverstart Solar Park in a project that broke ground in January 2021 and was complete as of January 2022. Located in Randolph County near the Ohio border, the 270 MWdc PV array consists of hundreds of thousands of photovoltaic solar panels mounted on a single-axis tracking system. Other site components include bifacial modules and central inverters interconnecting to a 34.5/345kV substation. Ames provided engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services on this project, self-performing civil, mechanical, and PV electrical installation scopes.

Riverstart is capable of producing enough clean electricity to power the equivalent of more than 36,000 households. Following construction, native prairie grass and low-growing pollinators were added to provide food, nesting sites, and winter cover for wildlife. The habitat is especially beneficial for bees and butterflies that are vital to nearby agriculture production.
