Ames Construction performed earthwork activities for the Huffaker Hills Reservoir Liner Extension CMAR project in Nevada’s Washoe County, clearing and excavating the existing site and rebuilding the slopes approximately 30 feet higher to accommodate more reservoir storage. Ames processed excavated material through its on-site crushing operation and imported additional material from a local source.
The extremely tight site made excavation, material placement, and getting into and out of the site a challenge. In addition, the existing liner needed to be protected from construction activities. Ames overcame these challenges to finish the project on time with no damage to the existing dam or liner.
