DESCRIPTION:

CMGC PROJECT MANAGER positions are available at any one of the following office locations: Burnsville, MN, Denver, CO, Phoenix, AZ, Salt Lake City, UT or Corona, CA. This position will lead and expand Ames’ linear roadway and heavy civil construction projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Expanding Ames Construction’s practice and client relationships to linear infrastructure systems consisting of roadway, heavy civil, structures and underground earthwork
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of a project, including setting budget, bidding, overseeing project personnel, and working with the client from start to finish

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred

GRADE FOREMAN positions are located at our West Valley City, Utah office; and will cover Salt Lake City and Utah county areas. This position will monitor and supervise the excavation phase of a construction project and ensure this phase completes on schedule and in accordance with the set specifications.

Field Engineer

DESCRIPTION:

FIELD ENGINEER position is available out of our Western office in Utah. This position is geographically located in Salt Lake City, Utah, but may assist with projects throughout the surrounding states. The Field Engineer will help support the project management team. Seeking candidates that are hard-working professional, able to undertake a variety of tasks, thrive in a fast-pace environment, interact with the project team and subcontractors, and provide hands-on direction to the success of the project.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support to project management and assist the Superintendent in creating work plans and maintaining the look-ahead schedule
  • Complete daily time cards from the foreman report and weekly payroll reporting
  • Track progress cost, budget vs actual cost variance
  • Track quantities of the completed work and what has yet to be completed
  • Monitory quality control, environment requirements and schedule control point inspections
  • Assist with permanent material, tools and material procurement

CIVIL SUPERINTENDENT position is available out of our Western Region Utah office, and may cover projects in the surrounding states and may include short or long term travel. This position will assist the Project Manager to monitor the overall day-to-day construction work, project schedules, manage labor costs, coordinating subcontractor and manage craft workers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead an effective disciplined team, delegate responsibilities and ensure production of high-quality work
  • Assist in the training and development of craft personnel and enforce company policies, procedures, industry standards and client expectations

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGER position is available out of our Corona, California. This position will manage the development, design, implementation and maintenance of initiatives designed to address critical environmental issues and improve sustainability.  Promote the importance of protecting the environment and assuring the companies’ business operations are sustainable. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review active projects weekly for compliance with environmental permits including; NPDES, SWPPP, Air Quality, Individual Agency Permits, Biological and EPA Hazardous Materials.
  • Conduct documented SWPPP inspections as needed for active construction projects.

Project Manager - Solar


OFFICE: Renewables

LOCATION: Minnesota

DESCRIPTION:

PRE-CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER position is available to join the Renewable Energy Division at our Corporate office in Burnsville, MN. This position will support the daily tasks within the pre-construction team, but include an emphasis on solar PV modeling and design. We’re seeking a skilled professional in renewable energy who is a self-starter, highly organized, detail oriented and looking to grow within in a dynamic environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for assisting with the pre-construction stage of renewable energy construction projects.
  • Support the Project Management team as required during the construction phase.
  • Builds relationships with designers, vendors, suppliers, customers and other partners to resolve issues during design and/or pre-bid phases.
  • Establish PV basis of design including but not limited to; Capex equipment optimization, string sizing, ground coverage ratio, power factor requirements, inverter loading ratio, cable sizing, etc.
  • Review bid drawings, specifications and all other construction related documents and communicate issues, accuracy of information, and potential risks.
  • Regularly participate in design meetings and contribute to the development of scope-of-work documents.
  • Create preliminary solar design packages, including 1-line diagrams, array layouts, fence layout, grading plans and road layout. (up to 30% completion)
  • Utilize PVSyst software in support of performance modeling.
  • Perform string size calculations and cable loss calculations
  • Understand utility PPA and interconnection requirements.
  • Communicate field observations with design engineers achieving the best design solutions.
  • Provide value engineering insight during design phase of projects.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field is preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience working in a Construction Management or PV Solar Design capacity.
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD and/or related Autodesk software (Civil 3D, REVIT, etc.).
  • Experience with PVSyst is a positive, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of National Electric Code and Plant Predict is preferred.
  • Demonstrated electrical, structural, and mechanical understandings.

Electrical Superintendent - Solar

ELECTRICAL SUPERINTENDENT position is available to join the Renewable Energy Division at our corporate office in Burnsville, MN. This position will manager provide coordination, planning, and supervision to the Assistant Electrical Superintendents, Foremen, and craft personnel on renewable energy projects. Seeking a skilled professional in renewable energy who is highly organized, detail oriented individual and looking to excel in a dynastic environment.

The Electrical Superintendent will be assigned to project sites across the U.S. This position will provide coordination, planning, and supervision to the Assistant Electrical Superintendents, Foremen, and craft personnel. Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to coordinating projects within the electrical scope of the renewable energy project and overseeing electrical craft personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate Projects - 

  • Project coordination within the civil, mechanical and electrical scope of the solar project
  • Obtain high-quality installation of the project, including pile installation, tracker and racking installation and module installation
  • Provide drawing, constructability, submittal reviews, and feedback with the pre-construction team, verifying quality of materials, equipment, and workmanship conforms to specifications and updates of each contract document
  • Oversee the self-perform installation of all low and medium voltage systems incorporated on a solar project.
  • Work with project team in development of project schedules, updates, and creation of a 3 week look-ahead
  • Mange quality control of work teams, including self-performed work guaranteeing the necessary resources and support is available
  • Participate in project meetings, providing liaison between Field Engineers and craft personnel ensuring electrical components of each project comply with drawings and specifications
  • Aid in the development of Standard Work
  • Lead project safety culture on project

Oversight of Electrical Craft Personnel - 

  • Review and monitor procurement of resources, methods, staffing, look-ahead schedules and coordination with other site activities
  • Collaborate with engineering staff ensuring plans, specifications, submittals and RFIs are transmitted accurately and in a timely manner
  • Coach, mentor and train field personnel, Foremen, and Assistant Superintendents
