Twenty years ago, the Montana Grizzlies kicked off the 2003 football season in a newly expanded Washington-Grizzly Stadium at the University of Montana in Missoula. From April through August of that year, Ames Construction performed a fast-paced and schedule-critical stadium expansion project that added 4,100 seats.

Ames crews demolished existing foundations, supplied and erected 12,000 precast concrete elements, installed prefabricated aluminum seating and handrails, and constructed new restroom facilities.

With a capacity of more than 25,000 today, the stadium is one of the largest in the FBC. And it hosts more than football! The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Guns N’ Roses, and Pearl Jam have all rocked out at the venue.

Ames has built projects across the U.S. for more than six decades. We’re inspired by past accomplishments, and we embrace the challenges of the future. Learn more about our history.
