When Ames Construction moved its corporate headquarters and Midwest regional offices into their new home in Burnsville in 2020, a historic piece of equipment found a new home as well. The iconic D8 dozer that started Dick Ames on the path to building his dream is now on display 16 miles to the east, at Ames’ Midwest maintenance facility. Dick Ames purchased the 1953 Caterpillar model D8 13A bulldozer in late 1961 for $6,000, and worked for a couple of months to repair it so that it was ready to be put to work on the company’s first jobs in the spring of 1962.

“The Dozer Museum” is just inside the maintenance facility welcoming team members and guests and serving as a reminder of the company’s humble beginnings and how far Ames Construction has come.
