Ames Construction enters rail transit market with first $1 billion design-build commuter rail project: RTD Eagle P3 project in Colorado.

The commuter rail for the Denver Regional Transportation District, which started in 2010, consisted of 36 miles of mostly double-track electric (25 kV) commuter rail transit, 13 stations with bus transfer and Park-n-Ride facilities, a major commuter rail maintenance shop, and supply of the fleet of commuter rail vehicles. The project included three new commuter rail lines— one linking Denver Union Station in downtown to the Denver International Airport, and two other lines running north and west from downtown.

Because of the established regional headquarters and strong civil construction capabilities in Denver, Ames led the civil construction portion of the design-build effort for the DTC (Denver Transit Partners) joint venture team.
