The Ames Construction Eastern Office was proud to attend Construction Career Day on April 21, 2026, serving as a Platinum Sponsor of this impactful workforce development event.

Held in North Carolina, the event welcomed more than 900 high school students from across the region. Construction Career Day is designed to introduce students to the wide range of careers available in the construction industry and to inspire the next generation of skilled professionals.

Hands-On Learning and High-Tech Demonstrations
Our Eastern Office team joined industry partners to showcase the breadth of opportunities within construction through engaging, hands-on experiences. Students had the chance to:

  • Operate a mini-excavator
  • Take part in an interactive pipe connection challenge
  • Explore equipment, including a crane, semi-truck, mechanic truck, dozer, and formwork
  • View drone flight footage and survey technology demonstrations

These interactive activities gave students a real-world look at today’s construction sites and the innovative tools shaping the industry.

Exploring Career Pathways in Construction
Ames team members also spent time discussing the many pathways available after high school, including union apprenticeships, technical schools, community colleges, and four-year universities. These conversations helped students understand that there is no single path into construction—and that the industry offers long-term, rewarding careers for individuals with a wide range of interests and skills.

It was inspiring to see the curiosity and engagement from students, and we hope the experience sparked new interest in construction careers throughout the region.

Building the Future Workforce
As demand for skilled construction professionals continues to grow, events like Construction Career Day play a critical role in connecting students with career opportunities and strengthening the future workforce. Organizers emphasized that employer-led initiatives like this are essential to meeting regional labor needs.

Thank You
